Utsav Limbad Emerges as a Distinctive New Voice in India’s Independent Music Scene in 2026

As India’s independent music scene continues to expand across genres and languages, Utsav Limbad is steadily carving out a distinctive space with his unique blend of indie pop, drum and bass, Indian classical influences, Sufi elements, jazz, and emotionally driven storytelling.

A singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and live performer from Ahmedabad, Utsav began learning music at the age of 10. His early musical influences included international and Indian artists such as Linkin Park, Green Day, Bryan Adams and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Their diverse approaches to music inspired him to explore different vocal styles and musical expressions from a young age.

A major influence in his musical development has been his father and guru, Jatin Limbad, who has played an important role in shaping his musical journey. Utsav began composing music at an early age but initially hesitated to release his work due to self-doubt. With time, he gained confidence and started sharing his music publicly, eventually receiving appreciation from listeners.

Creating a Sound of His Own

Utsav currently specialises in indie pop and DnB fused with Indian classical music. He also plans to explore alternative rock and jazz in his upcoming releases. Performing in Hindi, Gujarati and English, he aims to create music that can connect with audiences across different backgrounds.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Utsav plays 20 different musical instruments, adding another dimension to his approach to songwriting, composition and live performance.

His approach to songwriting focuses heavily on emotion and introspection. By combining Sufi, jazz and pop influences with personal storytelling, Utsav attempts to capture experiences such as heartbreak, love, spirituality and the complexities of everyday life.

From Thousands of Listeners to Major Musical Milestones

Utsav has already performed on prominent stages, including Hungrito Fest, where he performed before a crowd of more than 8,000 people. One of his most distinctive live performances involves playing nine musical instruments simultaneously while singing live, a performance he has presented before an audience of around 2,000 people.

His ability to perform across multiple instruments has become an important part of his identity as a live artist, allowing him to bring a distinctive and highly versatile musical approach to the stage.

His original music has also gained traction on digital platforms. His song “Naina Bawre” crossed 50,000 streams and was featured on Spotify Release Radar, while “Suno” crossed 1.1 million views on Instagram.

Beyond independent music, Utsav has also expanded his work into film scoring. He assists composer duo Jatin-Pratik, under whose guidance he received an opportunity to work on a film score. His work subsequently earned him an International Award for Best BGM at the Ireland Film Festival.

He has also had opportunities to work with established names including Sonu Nigam and Himesh Reshammiya, besides collaborating with various brands.

Expanding Into Gujarati Cinema

Utsav recently lent his voice to the Gujarati feature film Gulkandi, contributing vocals to songs including “Jivi Lo Jindagi,” “Prem Tu” and the film’s title track.

The project adds another dimension to his growing career and reflects his ability to move between independent music, live performance and film music.

Music Driven by Emotion and Connection

For Utsav, music is more than entertainment. His artistic philosophy revolves around creating songs that reflect the emotional experiences people go through but may not always express.

He describes his approach as an attempt to capture the “raw ache of being human”—from heartbreak and loneliness to love, faith and inner peace.

Through social media, live performances and behind-the-scenes content, he continues to build a closer relationship with his listeners. His goal is to make audiences feel represented through his stories and remind them that they are not alone in their experiences.

Aiming for a Lasting Musical Legacy

Looking ahead, Utsav is preparing a series of new releases as he continues developing his sound and artistic identity. His long-term vision is to establish himself as a versatile and original artist capable of connecting with audiences in India and internationally.

Over the next five years, he hopes to perform on larger stages, collaborate with inspiring artists and create music that leaves a lasting impression on listeners.

With a growing catalogue, experience across independent music and film scoring, proficiency in 20 different musical instruments, and a willingness to experiment with genres, Utsav Limbad represents an emerging generation of Indian artists who are blending traditional influences with contemporary sounds.

As new music is expected from him soon, 2026 could mark another significant chapter in the Ahmedabad-based artist’s journey toward building a timeless musical identity.
