Megan Thee Stallion Set to Take the Stage at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan

Crunchyroll, the leading streaming platform for anime content, has officially announced the nominees for the eighth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards, celebrating the outstanding achievements in Japanese animation. Set to take place in Japan on March 2, the awards ceremony will feature a star-studded lineup of presenters, including the chart-topping rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

Megan Thee Stallion, a three-time GRAMMY-winning recording artist, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, expressed her excitement about the upcoming event, stating, “Watching anime is one of my favorite things to do! I love cosplaying all of my favorite characters, I love the storytelling, and I love getting inspiration from the different anime art styles! I’m really excited for the opportunity to attend and present an award at this year’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards. I’m looking forward to traveling to Tokyo and joining my fellow anime lovers as we celebrate and honor the best anime creators and shows in the world.”

Joining Megan Thee Stallion in presenting awards are renowned figures from various industries, adding a diverse and international flavor to the ceremony:

The Chairman and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, Kenichiro Yoshida, will return to deliver opening remarks at the live ceremony. The event will be hosted by voice actress Sally Amaki and entertainer Jon Kabira.

Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll, highlighted the global appeal of anime, stating, “With more than 30 anime studios, 5 streaming platforms, 50 series and films, and over 50 voice actors, the nominees for the Crunchyroll Anime Awards represent the world-class creatives powering the global love of anime.”

Fans have until January 27 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time to cast their votes for their favorite anime series and creators. The winners will be announced during the live ceremony on March 2, with the event also featuring a global fan livestream. To further celebrate the nominees, a selection of series will be available for free streaming on Crunchyroll’s AVOD (Ad-Supported Video On Demand) platform until March 2.
