Lana Del Rey Hints at Release Date for Upcoming Single, Names Husband Jeremy Dufrene as Co-Writer

Lana Del Rey is finally giving fans fresh details about the long-awaited music from her upcoming country-inspired album. After months of anticipation and shifting timelines, the singer-songwriter has revealed key updates about a new single she describes as her personal favorite from the project.

A Favorite Track Is on the Way

On Saturday, Feb. 7, the 40-year-old artist shared a video on her Instagram Story to announce the title and expected release timing for a standout song from her forthcoming album, Stove.

“I wanted to share a quick update,” she told fans. “My new single — my favorite track from the album and the one I’ve been most excited about — is finally coming.”

The song, titled “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter,” is set to arrive on the 17th, which is widely assumed to be Feb. 17.

A Collaborative Family Effort

The track was produced by longtime collaborators Drew Erickson and Jack Antonoff, whom Del Rey credited with helping her find the “perfect missing chord” that brought the song together.

In a personal touch, the writing process became a family collaboration. The song was co-written with her husband, Jeremy Dufrene, along with her brother-in-law and sister Caroline “Chuck” Grant. Mixing duties were handled by Dean Reid and Laura Sisk.

Del Rey noted that the song includes creative contributions from multiple voices, describing it as a piece filled with shared phrases and ideas that shaped its final form.

A DIY Music Video Already Completed

Fans won’t have to wait long for visuals either. Del Rey revealed that the music video for the track has already been filmed — and created entirely by her own team.

According to the singer, the process was hands-on and time-consuming, involving extensive editing and file management despite the intimate, self-produced approach.

When Will the Album Arrive?

While an exact release date for Stove hasn’t been confirmed, Del Rey hinted that the album could arrive within the next few months. She explained that vinyl production timelines are a major factor, estimating roughly three months for pressing, plus a couple of additional weeks for preparation and rollout.

A Country Album Years in the Making

Del Rey first announced her country direction in January 2024 during the Billboard x NMPA Songwriter Awards, originally revealing the project under the title Lasso with a planned September 2024 release.

The album’s journey has included several changes. After releasing the lead single “Henry, Come On” in April 2025 — when the project was briefly titled The Right Person Will Stay — the singer delayed the release again and ultimately renamed the album Stove.

In a 2025 interview, Del Rey explained that the material became more personal than expected, which extended the creative process.

Despite the delays, the album is expected to lean heavily into country influences — a direction she says she considered long before the recent genre revival.

Reflecting on the shift, Del Rey joked about the changing musical landscape, wondering whether it was time to retire her snakeskin boots or pack away her cowboy hats — before ultimately embracing the country spirit she’s been building toward for years.

With a new single arriving soon and the album potentially just months away, fans are closer than ever to experiencing Lana Del Rey’s next chapter.
