Big Texas: The Underground San Antonio Outlaw Rapper

For Big Texas, music has never been about chasing trends—it’s about building something real.

Born and raised on the West Side of San Antonio, Texas, Big Texas has spent nearly a decade developing his craft, building relationships, and representing his city. While many artists come and go, he has remained committed to the independent spirit that shaped him.

His music journey began in 2015. Before rapping, he worked as a producer and mixing engineer, learning the technical side of record-making before stepping into the spotlight. That foundation gave him a unique perspective that continues to influence his artistry. Within months, he began releasing his own music and soon discovered his passion for live performance.

In 2016, Big Texas played his first show. What started locally quickly expanded beyond Texas, leading to performances across the United States alongside respected names in underground rap.

Early on, he became affiliated with Good Herb Records, the San Antonio independent label founded by Concept The Hashtronaut. The collective gave local artists a space to collaborate and grow outside the traditional industry system. The experience and relationships formed there helped shape Big Texas, who remains proudly connected to Good Herb Records today.

One of the first major turning points in Big Texas’ career came when he linked up with fellow San Antonio artists Mike Dimes and Southside Hoodlum for the release event celebrating Mike Dimes’ breakthrough project, Texas Boy, at the legendary Paper Tiger in San Antonio. The performance marked an early validation of his hard work and highlighted the growing potential of San Antonio’s rap scene.

Performing before a packed crowd during a pivotal moment in Mike Dimes’ rise helped boost Big Texas’ visibility and confidence as a live performer. The event remains a key milestone that reinforced his commitment to pursuing music on a larger scale.

As his reputation grew, Big Texas built strong ties with 500 Gwap Gang, developing close affiliations with Gwapmizzle, Zaybooty, Phee6z, and Gwap Lvrd D.

Through those connections, he also worked with affiliated artists including Tokinpotent, Mikul, and CJ Top Off. Together, they have shared stages, collaborated on music, and expanded their reach across multiple markets while representing independent rap culture.

One of the most significant partnerships of his career developed through his long-standing relationship with Memphis underground veteran Black Smurf. For the past five years, Big Texas has been a recurring presence on Black Smurf’s Hustle Chaos Tour, helping strengthen ties between the Texas and Memphis scenes.

What began as a collaboration evolved into a lasting professional relationship built on mutual support. Through the Hustle Chaos movement, Big Texas has reached audiences across multiple states and continues working with Black Smurf on tours and future events.

Throughout his career, Big Texas has shared stages and event lineups with artists including Black Smurf, DJ Paul, Mike Dimes, Wifisfuneral, idontknowjeffery, Robb Bank$, Father, Autumn!, Dsavage, WIFIGAWD, Diego Money, Ren The Third, JGRXXN, OMENXIII, Z-Ro, Southside Hoodlum, Mateo Sun, Izzy93, and many others.

Another major chapter in his career came with the creation of Holla Gang alongside longtime collaborator and close friend Lil Texxan. More than a music collective, Holla Gang serves as a platform for releasing music, creating opportunities, and showcasing Texas talent.

Together, Big Texas and Lil Texxan have grown Holla Gang through collaborative releases, live performances, merchandise, and artist development. Their partnership has increased both artists’ visibility while creating a foundation for future projects and collaborations.

Musically, Big Texas draws from a wide range of influences, including Houston rap, Memphis rap, Southern hip-hop, rock, metal, EDM, and underground internet rap culture.

Rather than fitting into a single category, Big Texas blends Southern rap traditions with aggressive live energy, dark underground production, and an independent spirit. His music remains rooted in Texas while staying connected to a broader audience.

Today, listeners can find Big Texas on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Audiomack, and other digital streaming services.

Despite years of performing and releasing music, Big Texas remains committed to one core belief: the fans come first.

Whether performing for a packed venue or a small crowd hearing him for the first time, his goal is the same—to create an unforgettable experience and show that anyone can pursue their dreams regardless of where they come from.

For Big Texas, success has never been about celebrity. It has always been about creating memorable experiences, building genuine relationships, and inspiring others to pursue their goals.

As he continues releasing music and expanding Holla Gang, Big Texas remains focused on representing San Antonio, supporting the culture that raised him, and building his future through hard work, authenticity, and connection with fans.
