Brad Arnold, the founding member and frontman of 3 Doors Down, died peacefully in his sleep on February 7, with his wife Jennifer and close family by his side. A Courageous Fight Against Cancer

In May 2025, Arnold revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. The illness, identified as clear cell renal cell carcinoma, had spread to his lungs, forcing the band to cancel its planned summer tour.

Born and raised in Mississippi, Arnold formed 3 Doors Down in 1996 alongside high school friends Matt Roberts and Todd Harrell in their hometown of Escatawpa. In the early days, he took on dual roles as both drummer and lead vocalist.

The band’s breakthrough came with the song “Kryptonite,” written by Arnold while he was still in high school. After gaining traction on local radio, the track caught the attention of major labels and launched the group into mainstream success.
